Zara McDermott Is The Most Popular Love Islander Ever

ITV’s hit show Love Island is set to fly back onto our screens on June 28th for eight weeks of drama as our hot-to-trot Islanders look for love, and as a nation we couldn’t be more ready!

‘I got a text’, ‘It is what it is’ and ‘eggs in one basket’ are among some of the most well known Love Island phrases that have become part of our day to day vocabulary over the show’s six seasons. Using IMDb data and Love Island fandom websites, as well as Google search volume data, Vera Clinic has analysed the cast of love island from season one through to season six in order to find out the most popular islanders, couples and seasons.

Most Popular Islanders Ever:

Islander Annual UK SV Season
Zara McDermott 744,000 Season 4
Maura Higgins 696,000 Season 5
Tommy Fury 564,000 Season 5
Dani Dyer 420,000 Season 4
Olivia Attwood 336,000 Season 3

Over the past six seasons there have been over 150 Love Islanders, many who have shot to fame since leaving the villa. Zara McDermott from season four is the most popular islander; with her 1.5 million instagram followers Zara often shares pictures of her stunning Missguided collection, her relationship with Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson and hilarious TikToks during the pandemic.

Maura Higgins and Tommy Fury, both from season five, are the second and third most popular islanders; this comes as no surprise after they stole the hearts of the nation in 2019. Maura currently has her own false eyelashes collection in Primark stores across the UK and Ireland; she has also recently announced she will be presenting the new Glow Up Ireland! Tommy gained popularity when he found love with fellow Islander Molly-Mae Hague; they are still going strong almost two years later. Tommy has recently been training with brother Tyson Fury in Miami ahead of Tyson’s upcoming fight.

Olivia Attwood is the fifth most popular islander, she found fame in season three when she matched with Chris Hughes and finished third. Olivia and Chris left the villa together but unfortunately things didn’t work out between them – Olivia is currently engaged to footballer Bradley Dack. Olivia has her own TV show ‘Olivia Meets Her Match’ which is currently in its second season.
