Uk Google searches for Disneyland proposal soar 5,600% after Rebel Wilson’s engagement

New data has revealed that Google searches for ‘Disneyland proposal’ soared by 5,600% in the UK following Rebel Wilson’s engagement announcement.

The findings, pulled together by Bonusetu, found that searches around Disneyland engagements have steadily increased as the Australian actress took to Instagram to upload a professional proposal photoshoot at Disneyland California last night.

Fans took to social media to congratulate Rebel and her new fiancé Ramona Agruma on the news, with Rebel previously describing her partner as her ‘Disney princess’.

Searches for ‘Disneyland proposal’ rose by 5,600% in the hour immediately after the announcement, whilst searches for ‘Disneyland wedding’ also increased by 257%.

With Brits clearly keen to have their own fairytale proposal, Bonusetu priced up the cost of a Disneyland celebration – for both the Paris park, and Rebel’s choice, California.

The average cost of proposing at Disneyland Paris currently stands at £1,014, based on return Eurostar tickets, park tickets, an overnight hotel stay and a professional photoshoot.

Eurostar return tickets currently cost an average of £243 per person, whilst Disneyland Paris park tickets stand at £105 each. Official Disney hotels will set you back £110 per night.

Guests will want to opt for the ‘Capture Your Moment’ photo package once they arrive at the park, which costs £82 for a 20-minute session in a location of your choosing – including in front of the famous castle, as shown in Rebel’s Instagram post.

It’ll then cost you around £15.80 to receive a digital download of your favourite shot. And whilst Disney offers various other photo packages – including their Photopass for £67 – there are limits on both the photo locations and how many shots you can take.

This sum doesn’t take into account additional travel requirements, such as getting to London St. Pancras or from Gare du Nord to the park, or other costs like – of course – the ring.

And for those keen to replicate Rebel’s proposal exactly, they’ll need to spring for a California Disneyland visit, which will set you back a staggering £5,062 on average.

The majority of this cost is attributed to flights from London to California, with farecompare stating the average price stands at £2,159 per person – although airlines seem to offer round trips for around £350 pp, which drops the overall cost to £1,445.

Park tickets are pricier at £176 per person, whilst the average California Disney hotel stands at £295. Brits will also have to cough up if they want to spend more than one day in the park.

Capture Your Moment photo sessions can also be booked as far as 60 days in advance, so preparation is key to nailing a Disneyland proposal.

Speaking on the data, Bonusetu said: “People have long been inspired to copy what their favourite celebrities post on social media, and this goes to show that something as personal, intimate and momentous as a proposal is no different.

“Whether people are shopping around to price up their own proposal or are just curious about the cost, it’s no surprise that Rebel’s heartwarming announcement has inspired us.”
