Post pandemic travel era sparks travel habits change to ‘plan ahead’

A holiday villa specialist claims that since the Covid 19 travel restrictions were in place, guests are now booking earlier than ever, sometimes 3 years in advance!

The Turkey specialist, Kalkan Magic, regularly receives bookings its flagship villas and apartments well in advance from regular returnees but since 2022, the company’s owner, Sue Flynn, has seen a sharp rise in guests planning holidays well ahead especially as larger family groups. Commenting, Sue said: “The pandemic has had a profound impact on the way in which guests book their holidays. We would have expected more people to book last minute after having disappointments in the Covid years, but conversely the opposite has been true. Larger groups and families as well as couples, are now booking for 2025 and even further ahead, usually to celebrate milestone birthdays and anniversaries. We are also regularly getting asked to help decorate the property for them and book celebratory restaurants. One guest told us that since Covid, they just want to say ‘Cheers to Life”

Kalkan Magic offers a small selection of handpicked properties in chic Kalkan on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast and also in Norfolk in the UK.

“We are also finding that as many of our guests are travelling as blended families and groups, that they are more and more asking for proximity to the village centre, where Kalkan’s foodie restaurants offering Michelin-style standards at a fraction of the price. This way, blended groups don’t have to rely on getting taxis and so retain more independence.”

The company’s exclusive Villa Sultaniye sleeps 6 in sea view, en suite bedrooms, has a beautiful private pool and a huge furnished roof terrace
