SWEDEN’S Patrik Sjoland is celebrating after winning the Farmfoods’ European Senior Masters.

The 52-year-old grabbed the €50,000 first-place prize – and even landed a hole-in-one on his way to victory.

His win was all the sweeter because the tournament, at the Grand Hyatt La Manga Golf and Spa resort, La Manga, Spain, was his first pro appearance in seven years.
Speaking to Champions (UK) plc about his win and his hole-in-one on the Par 3, 12th, he said: “It was gusty from the right. I decided to go for a three-quarters cut 6 to hold it against the breeze and hit a perfect shot which landed 10 feet away and trickled into the hole.”
Sunday’s performance saw the Swede, who is a rookie to the Legends tour, make four birdies and a final-round score of 68.
It was enough to secure first place and justify his return to professional golf after a seven-year absence.
“My legs were like jelly for the first four or five holes but then I got into my rhythm, and I hit some good shots and made some birdies.
“It’s a great feeling. It means a lot and it means that I obviously made the right decision to come back to the game of golf. I’ve enjoyed every moment of being on Tour this year and this is just unbelievably good.”
Peter Baker hosted the Farmfoods European Senior Masters at the newly refurbished Grand Hyatt La Manga Golf and Spa resort, La Manga, Spain between the 2nd and 5th of November.
Ricardo Gonzalez carded the round of the day with a 65 as the Argentinian started the day four shots behind the leader.
Out to the turn in -5, but having posted the clubhouse target at -13, he would eventually see his score finish up as one shot too many – leaving him second.
Sweden’s Michael Lundberg made seven birdies in his final round to sign for a 66 and make it into double figures with 10 under par. That would be enough to see him finish in third place with England’s Phillip Archer and Paul Eales finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
