Punch Records has wrapped up its most successful Community Routes programme to date, with more than triple the applications received for the 50 fully-funded places on offer. The cohort, made up of highly talented, young creatives—many of whom are not formally enrolled in higher education—demonstrates that world-class creative talent thrives both inside and outside traditional academic settings.

The 50 attendees engaged fully across the intensive programme, drawn in particular to the panel sessions led by Birmingham-based mentors.

Participants could relate to and see as examples of what is possible in the creative industries industries, such as Award-Winning Designer Luke Tonge, Musician C4 and Director Tenisha White.

The programme culminated with ‘Into the Industry’ event with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation. It attracted over 120 guests, including representatives from BMG, Warner Music, and Radio 1Xtra, where participants learnt from and networked with major industry leaders.

Bradley Morrison, Head of Marketing & Communications, Punch Records, reflects:
“Community Routes is proof that talent knows no boundaries. This year’s cohort blew us away—not just with skill, but with passion, vision, and the drive to create. Seeing the participants connect with our Birmingham mentors and then share their work with industry leaders at the Showcase was inspiring. We’re committed to continuing to support this incredible creative community, helping it grow stronger every year.”

Community Routes participants, Stacey & Tracey said “We see successful artists all the time online, but we never find out how they get there – Community Routes is great because you get to meet and learn from the artists that have made it, and they provide the knowledge to get us all to the next stage of our journeys. This programme has helped to shape my craft, developed my confidence, has allowed me to meet likeminded people and has motivated me to take my future more seriously, but also enjoy it a lot more.”

Looking ahead, Punch Records is offering all Community Routes alumni the chance to apply for a £1,000 grant to support the development of their skills or creative projects. Five successful applicants will receive funding, further demonstrating Punch’s ongoing investment in nurturing young talent in Birmingham.

Additionally, alumni will have access to a programme of masterclasses, providing continued development opportunities, while the Wait List for next year’s intake is now open. Those interested in joining the next cohort can register via https://www.wearepunch.co.uk/community-routes

Community Routes 2025 has not only proven the strength and diversity of Birmingham’s emerging creative scene, but also reinforces Punch Records’ role as a hub for opportunity, mentorship, and career development in the West Midlands and beyond.
