NORTHAMPTONSHIRE HOMEBUILDER SUPPORTS LOCAL BEER FESTIVAL WITH PITCHER PERFECT DONATION

David Wilson Homes recently sponsored the annual Thrapston Beer Festival with a £500 donation on its return after being postponed for COVID-19.

The festival, which takes place each year near the housebuilder’s development The Nurseries, welcomed around 1,500 visitors over the weekend and is run entirely by volunteers.

Food and drink outlets were available all weekend, including 15 real ales, six ciders from local breweries, and 10 choices of artisan gin and cocktails.

The festival, which relies on the support of the local community, kicked off on the Friday evening with live music from The Atomic. Saturday included a cricket match, followed by live music in the afternoon from The 2 Tones.

Sunday hosted the Community Family Fun Day, at which there were inflatables, alpaca petting, vintage cars, bikes and tractors, craft, gift and food stalls, a card illusionist, a human table football competition, and a number of outdoor children’s activities.

Leigh Morris, Committee Member at the Thrapston Beer Festival, said: “On behalf of Thrapston Beer Festival and the Family Fun Day committee, I would like to thank David Wilson Homes for its generous sponsorship for the event and continued support.

“Without the support of local companies like David Wilson Homes, we would not be able to have an amazing community event that’s free of charge to attend all weekend.”

Some profit from the event is held to organise a bigger and better event the following year, whilst some of the profits raised is donated to local groups, good causes and charities. In 2019 when it was last held, £7,500 was donated to local groups and charities including the hall and kitchen refurbishment at St James Church, MIND, AMMF (The Cholangiocarcinoma Charity), and the refurbishment of the changing rooms for the Thrapston Sports Association.

Ben Kalus, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “We are delighted to have been able to support the Thrapston Beer Festival and we hope the people of Thrapston had a good time.
“As a leading developer it is very important for us to engage with the local community as best we can so that they can flourish. With only a small number of homes still available, those looking to join this thriving community should act fast.”

The Nurseries, located on Market Road in Thrapston, is a perfect place for commuters with access to rail links in Kettering and a number of routes to take via car. Large towns such as Kettering, Corby and Huntingdon are close by for shopping while Thrapston offers all the essential amenities needed as well as pubs, bars and places to eat and explore.

David Wilson Homes is encouraging potential homebuyers to act fast as there are only eight homes remaining at the development.
