HEREFORDSHIRE PUPILS THROW A BANNER IN THE WORKS FOR HOMEBUILDER

The leading developer enlisted the help of the pupils at Ledbury Primary School to try and warn other children about the dangers of playing near building sites during the summer holidays.
Olivia Ilau was named the winner of the competition, and her design has been transformed into a large-scale banner and installed at the Leadon Way development. Ethan Richardson and Amelia Hernas were also named as runners-up for their creative efforts and saw their designs placed on a poster alongside Olivia’s in the Barratt Homes sales centre.
The use of bright colours and important site safety messaging earned each pupil a gift voucher, as well as the chance to see their posters brought to life onsite.
Julie Rees, Co-Headteacher at Ledbury Primary School, said: “We are proud that our pupils have managed to create pieces of artwork that are bold, bright and engaging whilst sharing very important messages about site safety. They are a credit to Ledbury Primary School.”
Olivia, Ethan and Amelia were invited to Hawk Rise to meet with Trainee Assistant Site Manager, George Fisher, and Sales Adviser, Gemma Woosnam, once their posters were in place.

Adrian Evans, Managing Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said: “Our Hawk Rise development is predominantly family orientated so it is very important to us to promote the dangers of playing on a building site.

“Many children might not realise the hazards presented by building sites and perceive them as fun and exciting places to play, especially when spending more time at home.

“That is certainly not the case and we are very grateful to Olivia, Ethan and Amelia for helping us to raise awareness and discourage children from entering building sites unattended.”

Hawk Rise is located in a close-knit community and, having recently launched a brand new phase, has a selection of two, three and four bedroom homes available.
