Designit and Nobel Peace Center collaborate on brand identity for Nobel Peace Center conference and festival

The Nobel Peace Center, the public face of the Nobel Peace Prize, today launched its annual conference and festival, Human Rights Heroes. The conceptualisation, design, and implementation of the brand experience were managed end to end by global experience innovation consultancy Designit.

The annual conference and festival is a flagship event of the Nobel Peace Center, held in Oslo, Norway. The hybrid event, which welcomes Nobel laureates, human rights activists, experts, and humanitarian leaders from around the world, is themed each year based on the winner of the previous year’s Peace Prize.

Designit’s remit for the project saw it build an overarching identity for the festival and conference which the annual themes sit under. The Designit team also provided creative support, as well as extending and expressing the annual theme and brand to all visual elements and the wider conference experience.

Speaking on the project, Niklas Mortensen, Nordic Managing Director, Designit, said, “The Nobel Peace Prize is a globally recognised award. Hearing those words immediately conjures images in your mind of the great thinkers and humanitarians who have won the award in the past. What is lesser known, though, is all the other work the organisation does, and in particular, its annual festival and conference to encourage knowledge sharing and dialogue for peace.

“We’ve provided creative support to the Nobel Peace Center as its design partner for several years now, working on the last four conferences. What we identified through our close collaboration was that while the events naturally change themes every year to celebrate the recipient of the Peace Prize, it’s a challenge to portray a consistent identity when every event is so different from the last. Contributing our visual and experience expertise to bring their themes to life each year eventually evolved into building an overarching brand for the event. The driving force behind this was for the event itself to become a recognisable concept within the Nobel Peace Center’s constellation of activities. Building visual, experiential, and brand assets and guides to consistently communicate the inspiring message that the Center has to tell no matter what the theme is.”

Hege Østmo, Head of Brand and Sponsorships at The Nobel Peace Center, added, “Designit has been an invaluable partner to us, the understanding of our message, the consideration they put into the work to account for the sensitive topics we often discuss, and the high quality of its consultancy.

“Our annual festival and conference is a core part of our outreach; it’s open to the public for everyone to come, see, and experience the inspiring actions that extraordinary people are doing to make a difference in the world. Designit has given us an identity with which we can do that.”

This year’s Nobel Peace Conference and Festival was held on 31st August in Oslo, Norway. Based around the concept of human rights heroes, the free event features talks from Nobel Peace Prize laureates. The whole event can be seen at www.nobelpeacecenter.org
