Cancer Central’s summer of celebration

This summer, Cancer Central are celebrating the launch of their new platform having received over 70,000 donated hours, from over 300 individuals and 60 organisations. Built through volunteer spare time, Cancer Central’s mission is to help people affected by cancer, find the support and information they need.

Avril Chester, Founder of Cancer Central said, “The support from the technology industry for Cancer Central has been more than my wildest dreams. I wish to thank everyone who has helped volunteer their precious skills and time. Technology and these types of results always require continual update and finessing but we should take a moment to stop and celebrate this incredible milestone”.

Behind Cancer Central, the platform, the development, the UX, the testing, the branding, the backlog ideas, the policies, the fundraising and charity, is thanks to a cumulative 70,000+ donated hours, volunteered in people’s spare time, alongside day jobs, life, friends & family.

To celebrate this technology collaboration of minds and passion, ‘Tech Treats & Treasures – a celebration’ podcast will air weekly until the end of September. Episodes are based on the book ‘Tech Treats & Treasures’ where 80+ remarkable leaders share their insights, stories and golden nuggets as a fundraiser for Cancer Central; helping to keep the site free from advertising and messaging charges.
