CAMBRIDGESHIRE CHARITY BANKS A £2,500 DONATION FROM LEADING HOMEBUILDER

Ramsey Food Bank has received a £2,500 donation from David Wilson Homes to help support its essential service to the people of Ramsey and the surrounding area.

The charity, located near the developer’s Ramsey Park development, strives to relieve local people who are in financial hardship, in particular those who are suffering from substance addiction and domestic abuse, in any way it can. This includes providing emergency food, as well as offering social, personal and spiritual support.
Lisa Williamson, Operations Manager at Ramsey Food Bank, said: “We were absolutely delighted when David Wilson Homes contacted us as we are currently facing greater costs due to the expansion of our needs for premises alongside rising energy costs. We have also recently joined The Fuel Bank so we can support our clients with fuel vouchers which has been an added outlay for us.

“This donation contributed massively to our work over Christmas, which included our food parcels, all of which were distributed to local families in need over the festive period.

“Everyone here at Ramsey Food Bank would like to offer our most heartfelt thanks to David Wilson Homes for this generous donation, which will have a direct effect upon the lives of our clients. This donation doesn’t just help us to continue our work, but enables us to expand our services to include wider support.”

The donation came as part of the Barratt Developments Plc Charitable Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Ben Kalus, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “As a leading housebuilder we strive to support the communities in and around the areas in which we build and were delighted to be able to offer Ramsey Food Bank a donation to support the fantastic work it does.

“We have witnessed how the foodbank, despite the effects of the cost-of-living crisis, has continued to provide vital services which vulnerable members of the community rely on.”
