WORKING IN EDUCATION IS OFFICIALLY THE UK’S UNHEALTHIEST CAREER

A new national report has revealed that working in education is officially the unhealthiest career after it looked closely at the day to day lives of employees across the country.

After a year of health uncertainty and job insecurity, personalised meal replacement experts abnormal. have delved deeper into how the UK workforce feel in their current career.

With wellbeing at the front of everyone’s minds, the report has assessed stress levels, eating patterns, exercise habits, time taken off for illness, the support of the workplace, the effects of COVID-19 and the work-life balance, points have been collated for each of the 22 popular industries, to determine the unhealthiest in the UK.

Teachers and lecturers officially have the unhealthiest careers, after scoring highly throughout. 80% claimed they’ve had to take time off work for mental or physical illnesses, and 21% said they always have to take their work home with them.

In close joint second, almost all construction and property workers (99%) have had to take time off work for injuries, the highest percentage out of all industries. Whilst employees in recruitment and HR top the leader board for being stressed, with a third (33%) admitting that they are always overworked.

Those working in science and pharmaceuticals have proven to be the healthiest industry, as it scored lowest in the report. 38% of scientists and pharmacists claim they don’t feel stressed and overworked and almost half (44%) maintain they never skip lunch.

Working in fitness and beauty is also less demanding, with a third of staff (33%) revealing that they get to go for a walk every day, and 58% say that their workplace is supportive in stressful situations.

When employees were asked if they work over their contracted hours, 15% in motoring careers claimed they have to work a whopping 20 more hours extra per week. 8% of hospitality staff are missing their lunch every single shift, and 18% of marketing and media employees never get to exercise during the day. Plus, 34% of business owners said they always take their workload and the pressures of the job home with them.
