WE CAN BUILD: HOMEBUILDER DONATES EDUCATIONAL BOOKS TO OXFORDSHIRE SCHOOL

RAF Benson Community Primary School in Benson has received a donation of 65 educational books written by graduates on David Wilson Homes’ ASPIRE Programme.

The book, named ‘We Can Build’, takes readers on the journey of building a house through the various professions in the housebuilding industry.

Aimed at Key Stage 1 pupils, it introduces young learners to the basic building blocks of the built environment and sustainability, and aims to inspire the next generation of Architects, Engineers and Site Managers.

In addition, 100% of the profits of the sale of the books have gone to The Prince’s Trust – a charity that helps connect young people with mentors, career opportunities and provide pathways into inspiring futures.

Steph Fawdry, Headteacher at RAF Benson Community Primary School, said: “We were really grateful to receive the donation of ‘We Can Build’ books from David Wilson Homes.

“The book will teach our Key Stage 1 children about the process of building a new home, and will perhaps inspire our pupils to consider a career in the construction industry.”

The school, which is close to the housebuilder’s brand new Chiltern Grange development in the village, was delighted to receive the donation.

Campbell Gregg, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We are really proud of our ASPIRE graduates for the amazing book they have put together.

“The book covers all elements of construction including architecture, engineering, surveying, site management, construction and sales. We hope that the book might inspire some of the pupils of RAF Benson Community Primary School to become the next generation in the industry.
