Google search trends have revealed that vintage Christmas toys are on the rise this year. The search term “vintage toys UK” was a breakout search term with over 600+ searches in the last 90 days, and a further 1,124 searches for “sustainable toys.”

Folk Interiors, an online interior and gift store, which aims to provide high-quality items with a focus on Scandinavian design and hygge living, have been following the trend and have seen first-hand the rise in demand for vintage-inspired toys.

Katy Parkinson, the successful businesswoman behind the brand says, “At Folk Interiors, we are passionate about providing accessible, well-made, sustainable and beautiful items which will last for years to come. In the last few months, we’ve seen a rise in demand for vintage-inspired children’s toys, that are not only sustainable but will also last for years to come, meaning they can be passed down for generations to come.”

Among the products in demand have been the Danish brand, Maileg who offer a range of well-made, adorable toys that will last. Every collection that comes from the brand is always limited release, meaning that they can become collectables.

Katy Parkinson adds, “We are predicting to see more and more people buying children’s toys like those in the Maileg collections in the upcoming months, and years to come, With the entire world taking a closer look at their own shopping habits in terms of sustainability, more and more people are deciding to stay away from plastic children’s toys, and buying more sustainable products instead.”

“Maileg’s story making collection has a unique, authentic look and touch created by designer Dorthe Mail. All of their toys are shared, cherished and played with by children of all ages, and handed down for generations. The brand believes that children thrive with simpler toys rather than plastic, and these types of toys will open their minds to new stories and innovative ways to play which will serve them well through life.”
