Top 10 most popular movie soundtracks revealed

New research reveals the movies with the most searched for soundtracks.

CasinoTop10 analysed global Google search volumes to see which film titles combined with the keyword “soundtrack” were the most searched for.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy takes the top spot with an average of 53,000 Google searches per month. Released in 2014, the film made £573.9 million globally at the Box Office. The soundtrack to the film features songs from the 60s and 70s, and alongside this release there was also a film score album.

Dirty Dancing has the second most searched album, receiving 26,000 searches per month. The original film was released in 1987 and features many songs that are now synonymous with the scenes they accompanied. Arguably one of the most iconic songs in the film is “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” which was used as the theme song and the final dance.

Cruella is the film with the third most Googled soundtrack. It receives an average of 24,000 searches per month. Released in 2021, the live-action film is based on the novel The Hundred and One Dalmations. The soundtrack includes the original song “Call Me Cruella”, performed by Florence and The Machine.

Pulp Fiction follows in fourth with 24,000 searches per month. The classic Quentin Tarantino film has a more unconventional soundtrack that includes tracks of dialogue along with songs.

In fifth is the Twilight soundtrack, also receiving 24,000 searches on average per month. The first of the Twilight film saga, the film was released in 2008 and went on to make £303.1 million globally at the Box Office. The soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2010 along with the lead single “Decode” by Paramore.

A Star Is Born takes sixth place with 22,000 searches per month. The film was released in 2018 and is the fifth adaptation of the story. The soundtrack is performed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, who star as the two main characters.

Disney’s Moana places seventh on the list. Its soundtrack is Googled an average of 21,000 times per month. The musical features songs that have lyrics in English, Tokelauan, Tuvaluan, and Samoan. The film grossed £478 million worldwide at the Box Office.

Shrek is eighth with 21,000 Google searches per month. The 2001 film is the first of the films, followed by three sequels and the prequel Puss in Boots. It grossed £362 million worldwide at the Box Office.

In ninth is Top Gun, a 1986 action drama film starring Tom Cruise. Its soundtrack is searched 18,000 times per month. One of the most iconic songs on the soundtrack is “Take My Breath Away” by Berlin which won an Acadamy Award for Best Original Song.

Forrest Gump takes tenth place, receiving 18,000 searches per month, tying with Top Gun. The 1994 film stars veteran actor Tom Hanks and made £503.3 million worldwide at the Box Office. Its soundtrack includes songs from well known artists such as Elvis Presley, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Bob Dylan.
