The Future of Sex: New Contraceptive Innovations in a Post-Covid World

This June, Condoms.uk is launching a new educational campaign called ‘The Future of Sex.’ As we approach the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, people want to know ‘what’s next?’ in the world of sex and contraception. There is a ton of new innovation in the world of contraception, as scientists and developers want to take condoms beyond ‘safe sex’ and increase pleasure for all parties.

That’s why Condoms.uk is ramping up their sexual health educational campaign, ‘The Future of Sex.’ They want everyone to have access to contraception that makes them feel good and keeps them safe, even if they’re going a bit wild in the months after Covid. According to Lucy Dayton, the Director of Product Management at Condoms.uk, the general public might not know about some of the recent developments in contraception.

“Long gone are the days of ‘ribbed and dotted’ or ‘flavoured’ being the most innovative condoms on the market. We’re on top of fascinating research from around the world, and lots of new products. Delay condoms are a big seller – after lockdown and isolation, people want longer, more satisfying sessions between the sheets. Even couples that may not use condoms love delay condoms and sprays – they’re great for spicing things up.”

Prolonged sexual pleasure isn’t the only change that Ms Dayton has seen in her more than two decades in the industry. The recent invention of the self-lubricating condom, spearheaded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is shaking things up.

She’s excited about their potential. “They stay slippery for at least 1,000 thrusts and make sex more pleasurable. Studies show that self-lubricating condoms encourage people to use condoms more often – we hope to make them available in the UK as soon as possible.”

Some of the other innovations shaking up the field include condom applicators, hormone-free silicon rings, and even remote-controlled contraception that uses microchips. Of course, the ever-popular idea of the male birth control pill is still a topic of hot conversation, as trials continue for dimethandrolone undecanoate (DMAU) and 11β-MNTDC. Paired with pleasure-enhancing condoms, the male pill could make sex safer and more satisfying for everyone involved.

Throughout ‘The Future of Sex’ Campaign, Condoms.uk will be sharing new and exciting research on their social media pages and getting users active in the conversation. While the world gets its groove back after Covid, Condoms.uk is here to keep everyone safe, healthy, and excited about the world of contraception.
