LEARNING DISABILITY CHARITY RECEIVES £1,000 DONATION FROM NOTTINGHAMSHIRE HOMEBUILDER

Nottinghamshire based developers Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes has donated £1,000 to the charity MacIntyre which provides support for people with learning disabilities.

Based in Chesterfield in Derbyshire, the charity received the donation as part of the developers’ Community Fund scheme which sees a different charity each month receive a £1,000 donation.

Established in 1966 by Kenneth Newton Wright, a parent of a disabled child, MacIntyre has grown to become a leading national charity, highly respected and committed to setting standards and increasing choice. The charity provides education, support and care for more than 1,200 children, young people and adults who have a learning disability and/or autism across England and Wales

Michelle Wilkinson, Frontline Manager at MacIntyre, said: “When we received the good news, I couldn’t wait to share with the wider teams in MacIntyre that we’d received a £1,000 donation from Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes.

“The Community Fund is a fantastic idea as it gets donations directly to the people who need it the most and helps turn great ideas into reality.

“We would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes for their very generous donation.”

The donation will be going towards restarting the charity’s Memory Café, a space for those with dementia to make friends and join in social activities, and a project to connect with local disabled people who fall outside the criteria for funded support.
