Demand for kids’ studies surges as lockdown 3.0 sees the return of home schooling

The closure of schools for lockdown 3.0 – allegedly for seven weeks but with the Prime Minister already mentioning Easter – has generated an interesting new trend. This time, families know what they’re in for and, according to design and build experts Oakbridge Bespoke, this latest lockdown has acted as the catalyst for a trend that was already on the rise thanks to the stay-at-home orders experienced during parts of 2020: dedicated children’s studies.

Sir Jeremy Farrar, a member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), has warned that it, “would take almost a year” to vaccinate the whole UK population. That timescale provides plenty of scope for continued interruption, including home schooling. As such, many families are looking to companies such as Oakbridge Bespoke to help them build flexibility into the design of their homes.

This ranges from separate his and hers studies – another rapidly growing trend since the pandemic began – to well-located children’s studies. In both cases, certain design principles apply.

Adequate storage is important too. A clean, calm environment can do much to promote good studying/working practices. As such, bespoke storage solutions have enjoyed an increase in demand hand-in-hand with the trend for children’s studies.
