Chris Low, former CEO of Standard Chartered Bank India, joins JPIN VCATS’ advisory board

JPIN VCATS, the startup investment bank specialising in the UK, India and the emerging markets, is proud to announce the addition of global banking and financing expert Chris Low to its advisory board. The world-leading talent and expertise on the board, which includes other renowned high-profile industry experts, will provide counsel for investors looking for symbiotic relationships with ambitious startups, and for new businesses that need a vital injection of capital to grow.

Chris Low brings with him immense financial knowledge and expertise in deal selection, deal evaluation and connecting to the FinTech space, and nurturing the startup ecosystem globally. Chris will also help JPIN VCATS to expand their network further into Africa, a key market for the startup investment bank going forward. A key tenet of the work of the advisory board will be to drive investment and growth for firms across the regions of the UK and help them expand in addition to the ‘golden triangle’ of investment between London, Oxford, and Cambridge.

Chris Low, former CEO of Standard Chartered Bank India, and Regional Director at I&M group:

Chris Joins the JPIN VCATS advisory board with over 30 years of experience at the top level of international banking, risk management, and finance. His expertise at the board and C-suite level across the UK, Africa, Middle East, and India provides a unique insight into the critical requirements for businesses to scale and grow internationally and the finance required to achieve this.

Previously the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank in both India and South Africa, Chris has also held a myriad of Non-Executive Director positions and until recently advised HM Government’s Financial and Professional Services Sector Team in the Department of International Trade on strategies for engaging with the UK banking sector to promote trade and investment.

Key to this varied career has been supporting startups and small businesses in their journey to growth and success, advising on M&As, investment raises and exits, and investor relations. This experience, working with JPIN VCATS, will provide vital counsel or the future unicorns and decacorns of the world’s emerging markets.

Chris Low comments:

“The emerging markets across the world, whether they be in India or one of the many emerging economies of Africa, hold tremendous potential both for businesses and investors in a number of sectors. There is a huge opportunity, for example, in the FinTech space, especially in micro-finance and insurance as well as mobile wallet technology for vast populations still un- or under-banked.”

“I am really excited to be joining the JPIN VCATS team, which already includes some of the most experienced and respected names in the startup investment industry. There is strong appetite for investment in emerging economies such as India, but in many cases there is a lack of sophisticated investors, so creating a global network to help firms grow is the key.”
