With two thirds of adults struggling to do any physical activity during winter, Substation promises to bring the great outdoors indoors. The NHS recently published an article to promote rock climbing for its physical as well as mental benefits, Substation is the perfect place to reap the benefits of bouldering in a safe, fun and non judgemental environment.

Londoners looking to kickstart their climbing journey in 2023 can visit Substation for a complimentary 30-minute introduction on any Saturday or Sunday. Substation aims to prove that exercising isn’t about competition or putting pressure on yourself, but is a community driven, fun and exciting experience.

When starting a hobby, you need a buddy! Substation is encouraging members to ‘hang with a friend’,especially in January, and if an existing customer brings a friend during this time the friend gets their climb absolutely free.

What better way to spend a Friday than smashing a new bouldering route, sipping down post-climbing drinks and grooving to your favourite tunes provided by a featured DJ. Vibe and Climb at Substation takes place every second Friday of the month, the next happening 9th December.

To help combat the January blues, on Monday 16th January – known as ‘Blue Monday’ and the most depressing day of the year, Substation is hosting a ‘Feel Good Festival’ with feel good fitness + mental health workshops available throughout the day. Customers can climb, chill and unwind with a friend, alongside fresh and healthy food and a DJ – the perfect wellness pick-me-up to infuse a positive mindset this Blue Monday.

Encouraging children to learn and play in an active way, Substation hosts Sub Club for children ages 7-13 years on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Kids can enjoy the world of climbing in a fun, colourful and safe environment.

Keen to provide a fun and welcoming space for the whole family, Substation is launching a Kidzone in the new year which will focus on developmental play and harnessing froebelian principles. Designed by early years specialist Felicity Thomas the space will provide a unique experience for London’s 4 to 12 year olds.

For expert climbers, Substation offers over 1000 square metres of state-of-the-art climbing wall including two LED training boards, a circuit board with 50+ moves and new routes are set each week by Ed Wong, Head Route Setter, and an expert team of both in-house and freelance route setters. This provides new challenges to keep the climbing interesting and fresh.

More than just a climbing centre, Substation is a one-stop-destination for fitness enthusiasts and novice explorers. Along with its state-of-the-art bouldering experience, Substation encourages members to stretch, flex and sweat as much as they want with unlimited classes, an incredible AYB dance studio, freestyle gym and weights area, yoga and hot yoga, HIIT workouts and more. Aside from its fitness offerings, the in-house Substation cafe is the perfect space for socialising with a friend or remote working.
