Northampton-based housebuilder, David Wilson Homes South Midlands, is bidding a very fond farewell to the one of its employees who is retiring after nearly 20 years with the company.

Geoff Stanton (66), originally from Nottingham, first joined the developer in February 2003 and has worked as an Assistant Site Manager across a number of developments, helping to maintain the company’s five-star housebuilder status – awarded by the Home Builders Federation – for 13 successive years.

Geoff said: “Before working at David Wilson Homes, I was working in Telecommunications. After the company I was working for went bust, a friend recommended for me to apply for a job with David Wilson Homes.

“The change of career fell really well, and I have been with the housebuilder ever since. I would advise anyone looking to get into the construction industry to give it a go!

“During my 19 years at David Wilson Homes, my role has changed from being more construction based, to now spending more time with the customers. My favourite part of the job is seeing the customer on move in day, and it is especially rewarding when they thank us for our hard work.

“I would like to say a big thank you to David Wilson Homes for being a great employer. Particularly for allowing me to work three days a week near the end of my career.”

Geoff most recently was working at David Wilson Homes’ The Nurseries development in Thrapston. Here he was working alongside multiple Pride in the Job Award winner, Site Manager Gary Du Pille.

John Dillon, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes, said: “We would like to thank Geoff for all of his hard work over his impressive career at David Wilson Homes, and we hope he enjoys his retirement.”
