Iconic boutique colette returns in NFT form to mark 25th anniversary
Iconic Parisian boutique colette and famed avatar Darcel Disappoints today announce colette x Dour Darcels – a forthcoming collection of 25 one-of-one NFTs, uniting the two entities who have collaborated on various projects for over 10 years. From exhibitions to products and events, colette and Darcel have joined forces on a wide variety of projects during colette’s time at 213 Rue de Rivoli, all culminating in their joint collection for IKEA.
March 20 marks 25 years since colette first opened its doors and 10 years since Darcel’s ‘150/15’ exhibition at the iconic boutique. The exhibition was where Darcel first exhibited his avatars, a series of 150 portraits that characterized influential figures in fashion, music and design – from Karl Lagerfeld to Kanye to Steve Jobs. The new collection is inspired by the fun and eclectic community once found at colette – a mix of friends and strangers drawn to the iconic store – all characterised in Darcel’s distinctive cyclopean style.
To celebrate the anniversaries the entities are releasing 25 unique NFTs on the 20th March 2022 for each year since colette opened. The NFTs create a visual snapshot of the colette and Darcel worlds – the friends and strangers you would see from around the globe in the store, all coming together as one community. Five of the NFTs will be reserved as giveaways for Dour Darcels token holders, the remaining will be auctioned.
In additional to the NFT, colette x Dour Darcel token holders will also receive a custom Casetify phone cover with your name, token number and NFT as the artwork, and a Dour Darcels hoodie.
The NFT drop follows the launch of Dour Darcels; a collection of 10,000 randomly generated NFT characters created by esteemed artist Craig Redman, founder of the renowned design duo Craig & Karl and brainchild of Darcel Disappoints.
