A CELEBRATION OF READING FOR CHILDREN AT LINTON-ON-OUSE PRIMARY SCHOOL
Annington, the company responsible for building new homes at Linton-on-Ouse, donated funds towards Linton-on-Ouse Primary School and Nursery to purchase new phonic books ahead of World Book Day on 3rdMarch. This contribution will enable all children at the school to develop and enhance their reading skills.
World Book Day was created in the 1990s by UNESCO to illustrate that reading is fun, relevant, accessible, and exciting. Annington’s donation is part of its commitment to support and bring value to communities and will be used to purchase a variety of books for the children of Little Oaks Class, Birch Class and Willow Class.
Davinia Pearson, Headteacher at Linton-on-Ouse Primary School, commented: “We have loved getting our budding bookworms at the school excited about World Book Day over the past few weeks – and the news of Annington’s donation made the children even more enthusiastic! Reading is at the core of our curriculum and plays a fundamental role in the children becoming avid readers and growing learners.”
She continues: “All the teachers and staff here at the schoolwork incredibly hard by investing time and effort in our children. We know this donation will make a large difference in transforming children’s day-to-day lives. We want to extend our gratitude for a truly generous gift.”
Louise Saunders, Sales and Marketing Manager at Annington, adds: “Annington is committed to building relationships within the communities its developments are located. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate World Book Day than to offer this donation to Linton-on-Ouse Primary School. We hope that this will contribute to a wider choice of reading materials for its pupils and is one of the many projects we have planned in the area this year.”
Annington is refurbishing 56 homes at its Linton-on-Ouse development which will available to reserve later on in the year.
