With Covid-19 sharply focussing the nations minds on just how important things are, searches for ‘how to practice gratitude’ saw an increase of 200%, and ‘be grateful for what you have’ a 600% increase in 2021.

So, to determine what the nation is most grateful for, greeting card company, thortful recently polled the nation2 to reveal just that, with being grateful to be alive coming out on top (34%).

The nation is clearly grateful for the life they have, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic has taken so many from us. Not only that, but almost a quarter (24%) of the nation also voted ‘family’ as the thing they’re most appreciative of, with a lot of people growing to cherish family time over the last year or so… even though we can probably do without the Zoom quizzes now.

With health taking the third spot (23%) in the list, it is no wonder people are demonstrating their gratitude for their health and the NHS in the UK. There are over 10.6 million posts on social media where people show their gratitude to the NHS by thanking them publicly. The age group 18-24-year-olds make up over two-thirds (71%) of the people expressing gratitude to the NHS via social media platforms.

This summer, thortful wanted to thank the NHS and key workers by teaming up with gratitude a a spectacular public art installation, created by global public art producers Wild in Art, which honours and pays tribute to the ongoing courage and dedication of NHS Staff and all key workers during the pandemic and captures the extraordinary experiences that have connected us through these most challenging of times. One of thortful’s in house designer team created their statue entitled ‘A moment to be thortful’. These beautiful sculptures are touring the country. They are currently in Edinburgh and will then move to London for the grand finale.
