Less than 2 weeks to go until Ireland’s first international Sustainability Summit kicks off

Over 2,000 attendees are set to log on to The Business Show’s International Sustainability Summit which takes place virtually on 22nd September. With just under 2 weeks left to go, some of the world’s most influential environmental speakers will debate the severity of climate change, from extreme weather events and trends to the latest warning issued by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and how this will have catastrophic impacts on businesses, society and individuals. Our wide ranging line-up of speakers include:

Mary Robinson, Former Irish President and founder of the Foundation for Climate Justice

Audrey Choi, Chief Sustainability Officer, Morgan Stanley

Magid Magid, Founder and Director of Union for Justice

Dr. Gavin Schmidt, Senior Climate Advisor for NASA

Sir David King, Former CSA and Foreign Secretary’s Special Representative for Climate Change and Chair – Climate Crisis Advisory Group (CCAG)

Angela Francis, Chief Advisor, Economics and Economic Development, WWF-UK

Maria Adebowale-Schwarte, Founding Director of Living Space Project

This strategic initiative is designed to be the first of an annual series of events aimed at bringing together the corporate, academic, non-profit and activist worlds to look at environmental sustainability on a global scale. The Irish postal service, An Post, has been named a founding partner of the Sustainability Summit with Energia, Bord Gais and IBEC also confirmed.

The summit will consist of a series of keynote speeches and discussions debating a wide variety of topics centred around helping international business leaders achieve the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The free-to-attend, virtual event will bring together leaders, policy makers and key sustainability experts in an effort to inform, educate and develop a more sustainable business community.

Talks and panel discussions will be centred around the theme of sustainability in business, with the aim of educating business leaders on how to apply viable solutions for the coming decade while addressing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and how to Action the Change.

Tracey Carney, Managing Director of The Business Show’s Sustainability Summit, said: “WIth world-class speakers and thought-provoking panels, the Sustainability Summit promises to be an inspiring and actionable event for all attendees. The theme of this year’s summit is Action the Change – our goal is to showcase not just policies but how businesses can implement and excel by ensuring sustainability is at the core of their business growth no matter what stage of the journey they are on.”
