NOTTINGHAMSHIRE HOMEBUILDER DONATES £1,500 TO ELDERLY PERSONS CHARITY
A Nottingham-based charity has received a £1,500 donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes to support its services to provide a hub for the elderly population including dementia care, and interaction to combat loneliness.
Over the past 55 years, Radford Care Group has provided essential care to elderly people across Nottinghamshire. The charity also delivers a bespoke information programme for carers of those with dementia.
The Community Fund donation of £1,500 from Barratt and David Wilson Homes will go towards the activity programme that helps maintain mindfulness and well-being for those living with dementia.
Bev Pearson, CEO and Dementia Programme Lead at Radford Care Group, said: “We would like to thank Barratt and David Wilson Homes for recognising the need for the services we provide and supporting the needs of our older population.
“It is vital that charities like ours receive this type of support. Many large Trusts and grant-givers do not prioritise services for older people, due to there being so many other causes in the limelight, so we often get overlooked.
“We are based in a deprived area of the city and we are now seeing new challenges and issues as a result of the pandemic. The pandemic increased the isolation issues for the older generation as a result of the lockdowns.”
The developer’s donation was made as part of the Barratt Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
