Analysis of Google search data reveals that searches for AS Roma football club have surged worldwide over the last seven days after Kim Kardashian was pictured wearing AS Roma’s 1997/98 home shirt to daughter North West’s basketball game on Saturday, 28 January.

The analysis, by online casinos comparison service CasinoBonusCA.com, reveals that searches for ‘AS Roma’ exploded by 2,894% above the average volume in the last seven days after Kim Kardashian was pictured wearing the vintage kit in Los Angeles.

According to Google search data, this is an increase of an estimated 2.3m searches over two days before returning to normal levels. To put that into context, the typical search volume for AS Roma is 21,500 searches per day.

Spotted alongside Tristan Thompson, the social media and TV star teamed the red-and-yellow kit with a pair of black cycling shorts and black YEEZY 700 running shoes.

The rare Diadora 1997/98 home kit was worn by footballing legends such as Francesco Totti, Cafu and Aldair.

Roma’s official Twitter account shared the picture and captioned it with approval: “😎 Mamma mia, Kim! 💛❤️”

It is not the first time Kim has worn a vintage football kit. On 28 December 2022, she wore a rare Paris Saint-Germain 2001/02 third kit, which was only worn by the team once. At the same time, searches for the Ligue 1 team soared by 708%.

A spokesperson at CasinoBonusCA.com commented on the findings:

“This demonstrates the power of the Kardashian clan to cause a surge in searches for two very well-known clubs in football. With Kim’s power as an influencer and close association with the fashion world, we could see vintage sports kits creeping into mainstream trends and the prices of such going sky-high. Collectors and resellers of such kits would do well to monitor the demand. The prices for these kits are hundreds of dollars and could rise if demand increases due to the exposure.”
