2022 the Year of You: cosmetic trends that are set to surge in the new year

The cosmetics industry is one that is constantly evolving, bearing witness to never-ending trend changes, continually adapting to become more sustainable, and all the while, remaining a way to ensure we are feeling most confident in ourselves. Undoubtedly, the past 18 months has disrupted our normal way of living, and has allowed us to be more mindful of how we are looking after ourselves. With the New Year just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how we are going to continue to put ourselves first and prioritise our well-being by investing in better self-care.

As research from the previous year exhibited that UK plastic surgeons saw a 70% increase in requests for video consultations, Uvence, the all-natural cosmetic company, has delved into the beauty treatments that have seen increased demand in 2021, and how trends are set to continue to emerge as we ease into 2022. In their recent research, they found that over 3 million people in Britain are looking to undergo a cosmetic procedure in 2022 because of the impact of the pandemic on their aesthetics.

Dr. Olivier Amar is one of Europe’s leading aesthetic consultants, with over 15 years of experience in cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr Olivier shares some of the leading regenerative treatments set to dominate the cosmetic industry this coming year:

1) Express PRP

PRP, also known as Platelet Rich Plasma, is a natural and non-surgical treatment that uses the healing power of your own blood to regenerate your skin and encourage new collagen. PRP treatment boosts the skin’s radiance and luminosity, improves texture and reduces the visible signs of ageing. Where traditional PRP treatments involve many injections into the face, Express PRP gives patients all the skin-brightening, rejuvenating benefits of Platelet Rich Plasma but in less time, with less redness and less downtime than other types of PRP, and with minimal discomfort.

2) Uvence

Now, lots of people are seeking natural alternatives to traditional filler and Botox treatments. Uvence is an innovative and bespoke cosmetic treatment that utilises the patient’s own cells to rejuvenate the skin. Once the cells have been extracted from the patient, they go through a system of purification which are later reinjected into the targeted area – whether that be the face, neck, hands, or décolletage – improving the overall appearance of skin.

3) Morpheus8

Having recently gained prominence after Judy Murray’s impressive results, the Morpheus8 is set to become an increasingly popular treatment post-lockdown. Morpheus8 is a minimally invasive treatment that reduces the appearance of wrinkles, scarring, and sagging skin. The addition of radiofrequency energy to the microneedling procedure helps to further stimulate the body’s natural collagen and healing processes revealing firmer, rejuvenated skin. The micro needle also stimulates collagen production without damaging the skin.

4) ‘Brotox’

Coined ‘Brotox’, male tweakments have become a much more common demand in the beauty industry, which has consequently broken down the taboo when it comes to men and cosmetics. Alongside the collective desire to improve our self-care regimes, there has been a a gradual shift in the perception of male treatments as we have noticed the damaging effects that the pandemic has taken on our physical appearance. Research from Uvence illustrated that almost 2 million men in Britain are considering a cosmetic treatment, but don’t want to introduce unnatural substances into their body. This is why the introduction of more natural, and non-invasive treatment is set to sore in the new year including skin tightening and liposuction.

5) Kerastem Advanced Hair Therapy

An estimated 8 million women suffer from hair loss in the UK which is known to be a significant contributor to lower self-confidence. Specifically, Uvence found that 36% of Brits say that of all their physical attributes, their hair is the one that impacts their self-esteem the most. One such solution to this is Kerastem hair therapy which uses super enriched fat tissue transfer. It works by using your own natural fat and regenerative stem cells (stromal vascular fraction), injected into the scalp. Dr Olivier reinforces: “Fat cells are essential ‘food’ for growing hair follicles. Restoring a fat and stem cell rich environment to the scalp creates a safe, powerful treatment for triggering growth and restoring lost hair.”

6) Skin Pinch Lift

With over a third of the nation admitting that signs of stress and ageing on their face negatively impact their mental health, it is unsurprising that we are likely to see an exponential rise in the number of skin pinch lift requests. Dr Amar says, “I have many patients who want to reverse the early signs of ageing and appear refreshed and rejuvenated without anyone being able to tell they have had anything done.” A skin pinch lift restores the sharp angle between the jawline and neck. A skin pinch lift addresses the skin you can pinch under your ear lobe and can improve sagging and laxity on the neck for a more defined jawline. Marketed with minimal discomfort and downtime, minimal bruising and swelling and short scars, the interest in this treatment is projected to skyrocket in 2022.

Leading cosmetic surgeon and CMO of Uvence, Dr. Olivier Amar, shares what he believes will be a new age of regenerative treatments in 2022:

“Increasing numbers of people are considering undergoing a cosmetic procedure to combat the impact the pandemic has had on their appearance. What I have noticed with many of my patients, however, is that they’re opting for regenerative therapies more commonly than ever before. It seems that now more than ever, patients want to achieve a simple and subtle rejuvenation of the skin, rather than any major changes in their appearance.

It is important that patients feel comfortable to communicate exactly what they want to achieve with their practitioner. Although there is nothing to be ashamed of when seeking treatment, it is important not to rush into anything, and wait for a sufficient amount of time to weigh-up whether it is the best option for you. If you are still considering treatment, I would advise that you discuss this with a trusted professional, as well as a close friend or family member.

Lots of people are now opting for more natural and subtle tweakments rather than more dramatic surgeries. Uvence is an example of an effective and natural cosmetic treatment – the procedure utilises the regenerative potential of one’s own purified cells for skin rejuvenation, improving the overall texture and plumpness of skin over the long-term”.
