‘World’s most flexible girl’ and celebrity chef want to lift nation’s health

A Leicester teenager known as the ‘world’s most flexible girl’ is showing she possesses a heart of gold alongside her amazing talent.

Liberty Barros, 13, has travelled the world showing off her ability to bend and flow her body into shapes but is now switching focus to a cause closer to home.

Description automatically generatedShe is teaming up with celebrity chef Omar Allibhoy (both pictured) to shoot a documentary looking at schoolchildren’s health and obesity issues.

Her father Raam, 37, said: “Liberty was contacted to create this documentary about a cause she is passionate about which is improving the health of children in schools as a way to combat obesity and health-related issues and build a vibrant society where people are able to express themselves and move forward in a post-Brexit, post-pandemic world.

“This project is being pitched as a TV series in the Jamie Oliver in schools mold with the focus on movement to improve health and getting movement into lessons instead of being stuck in a chair or on a carpet.”

On the link with the London-based Spanish chef, Raam said: “Liberty was filmed as the most flexible person in the world, a mini-documentary at his restaurant in London which he featured in, so they have a pre-existing relationship.

“He mentioned his work as ambassador for the Mayor of London and providing healthy meals for kids and the idea was that it matched Liberty promoting movement in schools to improve health.”

Tapas Revolution owner Mr Allibhoy, who has devised low-cost meals for families during the Covid pandemic, said: “I am a dad of two. Working with food and knowing the important role it plays in children’s development and their opportunities, this is a cause close to my heart.”

Sandspur Media has taken on the documentary and producer-director Dave Moody said: “The project is certainly an exciting one.

“Flex is a documentary following the world’s most flexible person Liberty Barros and celebrity chef Omar Allibhoy as they attempt to improve the quality of life and learning of pupils at a typical British school.

“We’re currently in production on the short sampler, something designed as proof of concept for broadcasters.

“We need a commission to move forward into production on the series. If successful, it would be broadcast on the live and on-demand platform of the commissioning broadcaster.
