Two Drifters Distillery Unveil Rebrand – the World’s Most Sustainable Rum
Two Drifters Distillery, the world’s first carbon negative distillery, is on a mission to become as sustainable as possible, with its new rebrand giving more than a nod to the brand’s eco-friendly ethos.
Design agency, Here Design, have been instrumental in revamping Two Drifters’ new lighter and British-made bottle, which features a natural cork with FSC wooden top, 100% compostable tamper seal, paper labels made from 95% sugarcane fibre, 5% hemp and linen with a plant-based adhesive.
The new design sees eye-catching colours – hues of bright green, orange and blue – take centre stage while an illustration of a boat pays homage to the company’s Devonshire roots. The inside of the bottle hasn’t changed, with the brand’s unique and award-winning rum still made with a carbon negative footprint in a bespoke warehouse near Exeter Airport.
The four-strong range can be enjoyed simply over ice, or used as a base for a number of cocktails. A customer favourite is the deliciously different Overproof Spiced Pineapple Rum, think rich and fruity with irresistible notes of ripe pineapple, salted caramel and creme brûlée; the equally popular Lightly Spiced Rum, a warming and aromatic spirit boasting notes of vanilla, chai tea, toffee apple and delicate clove; Signature Rum, full-bodied and buttery with rich notes of treacle, toffee, ginger and Muscovado sugar; and Pure White Rum, crisp and clean with fresh notes of vanilla, apple, white pepper and lime zest.
Other notable changes include a bright and vibrant new website with low carbon emission technology, and a dedicated educational section on CO2 emissions. To date Two Drifters Distillery have avoided a whopping 35.29 tonnes of CO2, whilst removing a hefty 16.72 tonnes. Most of the effort that goes into achieving their carbon negative footprint is actually the avoidance, rather than removal; removal is expensive, so it’s better to avoid creating it in the first place and remove what can’t be avoided (e.g. CO2 from suppliers).
Set to solidify their position as the world’s most sustainable rum, the carbon neutral Shopify e-commerce site is now home to Two Drifters merchandise too, made to order by teemill in their factory powered by 100% renewable energy. T-shirts are made from 100% recyclable t-shirts, previously produced from GOTS certified organic cotton, and sent in plastic-free packaging.
