TOWIE star campaigns for legalisation of medical cannabis
TOWIE star Amy Childs is backing a campaign to legalise cannabis for medical use.
She spoke about how she is backing a campaign by Robin Emerson, a medical cannabis campaigner and founder of the Jorja Foundation.
Robin described how treatment with cannabis has helped keep his daughter Jorja, who was born with a rare chromosome abnormality and suffered from life-threatening seizures, away from hospital.
Amy told GB News she saw Jorja’s story on social media: “It was just so heartbreaking obviously for Jorja and obviously looking at Robin’s story.
“Me and Robin, it was going back and forward and I think…and let’s really try and get this like ball rolling.
“Essentially, I’m a mum of two kids and what Robin’s been through, I just, you know, my heart goes out to him.”
Amy was speaking in a live interview on Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel on GB News and added that she has teamed up with Robin to launch a petition which will be presented at Number 10 Downing Street.
“Hopefully within the next couple of weeks, that’s what we’ll be doing,” she said.
“For the doctors to say to Robin go home and your daughter will die at home – as a parent like it would just be your complete worst nightmare.
“So obviously me and Robin joined together and we’re just going really to try and change, what we want to do is to get the NHS to start prescribing medical cannabis and that’s the aim, that’s what we want to do.”
She added: “There is a lot to change, but I do think we could definitely do it. I’m very positive.
“My role now is to try and change my social media platform, get the petition signed and hopefully fingers crossed we can change it.”
