Louise (51) and Michael (54) Walters purchased their fourth home together at the housebuilder’s Fernwood Village community, and made the move alongside their children Jordan (25) and Libby (20), as well as Louise’s mother Angela Ishmael (75).

Having used the Part Exchange scheme to sell their home of 24 years in Nottingham, the couple made the move with their family and was able to do so quickly to ensure they got the home they wanted.

Louise said: “We only decided to visit the show home a couple of days before placing a reservation, but we fell in love with the Layton style home and it was perfect for us.

“We hadn’t planned to move house so our home wasn’t on the market. The Part Exchange scheme enabled us to move with no unexpected issues and we could plan our moving date knowing that nothing would change.”

Louise and Michael, a Sales Executive and Driver and Installer for John Lewis respectively, wanted a change and to move away from city life but still have all the amenities close to home. In their search for a new home, they wanted more space, and a bigger kitchen for entertaining.

Angela lived across the road from her family in their previous property and, in their new home, all five family members have the space they need.

Louise continued: “With the space in the Layton it made it possible for mum to come with us. She has the main bedroom with an en-suite, as she wanted a walk-in shower so it is perfect for her. This home allows us to live together very comfortably.

“It’s perfect having us all living together as we get on really well, and mum is a great cook!

“We love new build homes. Our last home was a new build as we like having a blank canvas and the fact no-one else has ever lived there, just us.”

Louise works from home, which was well catered for with the downstairs office space in the new home.

Ahead of making the decision to move to Fernwood Village, the family enjoyed the combination of being close to Newark but with beautiful countryside on the doorstep for dog walks. This has enabled them to enjoy the best of both worlds with their two miniature dachshunds, Frank and Pablo.

Louise added: “It’s a brilliant community. We have a fantastic local bar called The Brews Brothers, and we can walk there. There are excellent takeaways, a shop and even a vet, and we have a great choice of other shops and restaurants a short drive away as well. Alongside this, the local scenery and walking routes are stunning.

“From the very first time we visited the show home, the team at David Wilson Homes were amazing. They were so friendly and helpful and they supported us every step of the way. We felt as though they genuinely cared about our journey through the conveyancing process and they welcomed us to the site any time we wanted, and always kept us informed.”

David Wilson Homes’ Part Exchange scheme is where the housebuilder will arrange two independent valuations of the customer’s existing property.

Once the selling price has been agreed and the offer has been accepted, David Wilson Homes will buy the property and take it in part exchange for the new home.

Gabby Gal, Part Exchange Manager at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “Making use of our Part Exchange scheme can make a huge difference to those taking their next step on the property ladder.

“There are no estate agent fees to pay, and the hassle of selling a property is taken away completely which means you can fully focus on your move.”

Fernwood Village, located on Phoenix Lane, currently has a selection of two, three and four bedroom properties available with prices starting from £204,995. The Part Exchange scheme is available on selected properties at the development.
