Males:
Since Euro 2020 and the rise ofJack Grealish’s popularity, it seems men with his signature ‘curtains’ hairstyle are getting all the luck on dating apps, gaining 52 average monthly matches on dating apps – which is the highest of any hairstyle.
So guys, it’s time to throw out the clippers and let your luscious locks grow!
Waleed Taleb, a hair transplant and aesthetics specialist at Vera Clinic said: “We’ve seen an increase in men coming into the clinic asking for ‘Jack Grealish-style curtains’; and wanting hair transplants to achieve the look. It seems his appearance in the Euros has started a hair revolution!”
In second place is the standard short back and sides, with 48 average matches per month. This is also the most popular hairstyle with 654 out of 2048 surveyed sporting it!
In third place comes the controversial man bun – with an average of 44 matches per month.
The least successful hairstyle for men on dating apps was a combover, with 12 matches on average in the month of July, followed by a spiky hair-do, with 14 matches on average.
Females:
The most successful hair style for women on dating apps is long tresses worn ‘down and wavy.’
Waleed said: “This doesn’t come as a surprise to me. Experiments and observations have demonstrated that a woman’s hair plays a major role in how men rate a woman’s attractiveness.
Long, wavy hair screams femininity, and men’s preference for long hair is due to the fact that long hair requires substantial commitment of money, time, and daily care.
“Such factors would indicate that a woman has a good financial status, self-respect, and concern for her overall health and well being; these are obviously desirable qualities in a partner.
“According to evolutionary theory, features considered attractive by the opposite sex serve as indicators of reproductive fitness, and the quality and length of hair serves as a marker of genetic strength and overall health.”
The second and third most successful hair styles for women on dating apps were plaited hair (probably due to the same femininity reasons stated above) followed by a high bun. High buns are currently on trend due to influencers such as Love Island beauty Molly-Mae Hague and the stunning Jess Hunt who can regularly be seen sporting the look on Instagram.
The least successful hairstyle for women was a low ponytail, getting an average of 21 matches per month. The second least successful style was a cropped, shorter hairstyle, getting 22 matches.
