The International Compliance Association and Corporate Governance Institute partner to educate and empower international directors
As the world’s leading provider of governance education and certification for directors, the Corporate Governance Institute has partnered with The International Compliance Association (ICA) – the leading professional body for the global regulatory and financial crime compliance community and part of Wilmington plc – to provide unrivalled support to aspiring and existing directors in the areas of corporate governance education, Environmental Social Governance and certification.
With over 500 UK directors and CEOs taking the full, university-accredited Diploma in Corporate Governance since the beginning of this year, Corporate Governance Institute has already become the global leader in the certification of existing and aspiring boardroom directors. As a result, the CGI Institute has become the world’s leading educator of accredited and certified directors in just 18 months since its inception.
As an international training organisation and professional body since 2001, ICA has awarded over 170,000 professional qualifications and enhanced the knowledge, skills, and behaviour of over many thousands more through its self-study and expert-led portfolio of courses. By joining forces with CGI, ICA will provide its members and the global compliance and financial crime prevention community with an exciting opportunity to enhance their understanding of Environmental Social Governance (ESG), which is particularly timely given the increasing regulatory scrutiny in this area.
Rob Phillipson, Managing Director of the International Compliance Association, explains: “TCGI’s self-study diplomas in Corporate Governance and ESG offer rich, high-quality information to support senior professionals to develop their knowledge and understanding in these critical areas. The Diploma in Corporate Governance makes an excellent stepping-stone for those wishing to take a seat on a Board, whilst the Diploma in ESG provides business leaders with a wealth of information to support them in addressing investors’ questions on the topic, managing associated risks, and implementing an organisational framework.
Whilst ICA covers these subjects throughout its suite of governance, risk and compliance qualifications and training, the self-study approach and specific focus on providing knowledge and understanding to senior business leaders in an engaging and easily consumed fashion makes these a highly complementary addition to the ICA portfolio”.
Ciaran Bollard, the Chief Revenue Officer at TCGI, said: “Combining our experience with ICA will catapult our growth plans in the UK corporate market. Broadening the reach of our diploma and certificate courses to equip leaders with the knowledge and tools they need to be successful in an ever-changing boardroom. This is a very important step in our evolution”.
“It is important to ensure that good governance is carried out to benefit society and the environment. When organisations and communities are not properly governed, negative outcomes can result. To prepare board directors and aspiring directors for the highest level of governance, we provide the highest level of governance training and certification. As the independent voice of governance, we develop the mindset of a new generation of global leaders”.
