The business card of the future – how one company is using NFC technology to revolutionise networking
A British business is revolutionising the way people network through the use of NFC business cards.
Using NFC technology, V1CE’s innovative card can share all of the owner’s information when tapped against a smartphone.
The business was started in June 2020.
Haydn Price, the Preston-based co-founder of the business, said: “NFC is the new QR code and it will revolutionise our day-to-day lives in the same way.
“Paper business cards are very limited in their use of what they can do and if you rack up a few they can start to really clutter your wallet or purse. NFC business cards mean you only have to carry one at any time and you can store all the info you gain from them in the other thing you constantly carry – your phone.”
“By using the ability to seamlessly transfer any data via these cards, we’re able to make networking a much smoother process,” Haydn, 31, said. “Not just on a personal level but on a large-scale one too. Brands are continually looking for new ways to engage customers and build meaningful relationships and NFC technology is a low-cost, durable and effective means of customer communication that is transforming how businesses market themselves.
“Initially, we drew up some business cards sourcing some materials like metal and bamboo to not only be smart but eco-conscious. We also made them customisable to add a personal touch to the carrier.

Haydn (pictured left) said: “You can change what is shown on your V1CE card via your V1CE app on your phone. In essence, the business card is ever-changing and can suit any social setting. If you want to give one recipient your contact details but the next recipient just your LinkedIn you can switch what is shown on the card instantly. This is also great for people who have multiple businesses as they can manage them all through one card. No apps are needed on the recipient’s phone for the sharing of details.
“We’re not only revolutionising the approach to networking and marketing but we’re also going about it in a way that’s conscious and sustainable. For every card we sell we plant a tree around the world – ensuring our practices are changing the future in all sorts of ways.”
