STROKE CHARITY RECEIVES £500 DONATION FROM NORTHAMPTONSHIRE HOMEBUILDER

Stroke Association, a charity specialising in helping those who have suffered from strokes, has received a £500 donation from Northamptonshire housebuilder David Wilson Homes to assist with its work.

The charity supports those who have been affected by strokes, as well as funding research into the effects of strokes. Strokes are the 4th biggest killer in the UK, in addition to the single biggest cause of adult disability and there are more than 100,000 strokes in the UK every year.

David Wilson Homes’ contribution will help enhance the charity’s ability to build upon the lessons learnt during the pandemic and to expand a Stroke Connect, which the charity launched in the midst of the pandemic to ensure that everyone leaving hospital after a stroke had the support they needed.

Lucy Burnip, Relationship Fundraiser at Stroke Association, said: “We were delighted that David Wilson Homes had chosen to support the work we do. The money donated will make a huge difference to people affected by stroke living in the Midlands.

“The money David Wilson Homes has donated will allow us to continue to fund life-saving stroke research and ensure that we can continue to help people to rebuild their lives after stroke.

“It’s a fantastic initiative to donate every month to a charity working to improve the quality of life for people living in the local area. There are a number of charities doing amazing work to support the local community and they couldn’t survive without initiatives like David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund.

The Stroke Association are the only UK charity to fund life-saving stroke research to find new ways to stop stroke happening and improve treatment and care for people affected by stroke.
