Start of fly-fishing season- enjoy a special experience with Fishing Breaks

Fishing Breaks, based in the world-famous Test Valley, Hampshire, is gearing up for another trout fishing season, starting April 1st. Fishing Breaks is run by Simon Cooper who set the company up 30 years ago with the aim of introducing fly fishing to as many people as possible, whatever their level of experience. Simon operates from the idyllic Nether Wallop Mill on the chalk stream River Test, the birthplace of modern fly fishing, but offers experiences on beautiful rivers all over the country.

Fishing Breaks offers many different experiences, including Fishing for a Day – best suited to the competent fly fisherman with some river experience, a Day on the River with a guide- a day’s fishing on the Test with a knowledgeable and fully qualified fishing instructor at your side, revealing the secrets of this particular chalk stream and well suited to the occasional or regular fly fisherman who might be a bit daunted by such an amazing river, a family day or Adult and Child Day, which offers a full day’s fishing experience for a family or an adult and child with private tuition – the perfect bonding time learning a new skill. There are also Kids fishing camps and birthday parties. Or adults can enjoy Fishing tuition to learn a new skill including a Foundation course, private tuition, chalk stream courses or a Grayling course. New for this year will be special ‘women’s only’ days, for individuals or groups of up to 4, for novices or the more experienced.

And a month after the start of the season is the magnificent ‘Duffers Fortnight’ or Mayfly Season. This is when the trout jump out of the water in large quantities, causing real excitement and a great spectacle for anyone on the water and creating an easy and productive day’s fishing.
