The UK’s most trusted sleep brand, Silentnight, has just announced its commitment to The Climate Pledge, further cementing its sustainability credentials.

Whilst Silentnight has always been committed to providing the nation with sustainable sleep solutions, this initiative marks a huge milestone in its journey to becoming net zero, positioning itself as the leader in the market.

The sleep brand has already achieved its carbon neutral PLUS status and has offset more carbon than it has produced last year. In addition the sleep brand has implemented further carbon reduction initiatives to reduce its emissions by almost 50 per cent in the past four years.

The sleep brand has proven its dedication to helping the planet by setting Science-based targets, a proactive move that has never been done by a sleep brand before. They have spent the past 6 months looking at all emissions throughout their business and setting ambitious targets to achieve net zero carbon by 2040.

Angela Moran, ESG Director at Silentnight, said: “”We have been working extremely hard to reduce the impact of our business activities on our environment as well as pledging to always source from sustainable and responsible suppliers. We are proud to become signatories to the Climate Pledge and set a clear target to be net zero carbon by 2040”

Not stopping at its commitments as a business, Silentnight has a fantastic bed range which is ideal for planet savers. The Silentnight Eco Comfort Collection features a range of mattresses which are designed for deconstruction to significantly reduce the waste that ends up in landfill.

Similarly, every mattress in the Silentnight Eco Comfort Collection is comprised of eco comfort fibres, which are made from recycled plastic waste. The equivalent of a staggering 450 million plastic bottles are used in Silentnight’s eco mattresses and top of bed products each year.

The sleep brand has supported the work of the Marine Conservation Society since 2018 and has helped Beach Clean events to collect plastic waste that would ultimately end up in our oceans.

Silentnight looks forward to announcing even further developments about its commitment to sustainability in the coming months.
