Punters moving towards Mordaunt and Truss as the Tory leadership race hots up, new data from Unibet shows
NEW data from Unibet released (12th July) shows a shift in momentum towards Penny Mordaunt and Liz Truss, with 60% of all punters on Unibet backing them since Sunday (10th July).
And after a strong start for Rishi Sunak – with 45% of all bets placed on Unibet between 5th and 9th July being for the former Chancellor – other candidates appear to be stealing a march with punters. In fact, since Sunday, just 12% of all bets placed on the leadership race have been for Sunak.
The full details of the top 6 candidates’ proportion of bets from Unibet punters are below. Unibet will continue to release this data in the coming days and weeks – including around key moments such as hustings and televised debates to see who punters are taking their bets on as the candidates continue to campaign.
Percentages of total bets taken since 10th July are:
Mordaunt – 39%
Truss – 21%
Sunak – 12%
Hunt – 12%
Tugendhat – 3%
Javid – 1%
Compared to 5th July – 9th July, where the percentage of total bets taken were:
Sunak – 45%
Mordaunt – 16%
Tugendhat – 15%
Javid – 6%
Truss – 5%
Hunt – 3%
