Parcel Logistics Expert Caribou Continues Expansion with New Acquisition
As part of an ongoing expansion of operations, UK-based global logistics firm Caribou has today completed the acquisition of C&D Transport Solutions Ltd. The addition of the domestic and European courier specialist is set to help Caribou better meet the needs of its customers, extending its service offerings and improving its delivery network across both the UK and internationally.
Previously, Caribou had announced major plans to expand its already extensive service offerings to include same day deliveries and haulage expertise, which is where the knowledge and technological capabilities of the C&D Transport Solutions team will prove invaluable. C&D Transport Solutions boasts both of these specialties within its service portfolio, and is set to support Caribou as the firm builds and develops these niche service areas.
Caribou Managing Director Daryl Dylan said, “This really was a natural move for both organisations, as we’re both able to learn and grow from each other. C&D Transport Solutions is a company that has been running for more than 20 years reliably, they have a small team with big ambitions, and they have chosen to move into our group to fulfil the vision of a much larger network.
“At the same time, Caribou itself can learn from C&D’s incredibly talented and experienced team. C&D Transport Solutions benefits from forward thinking leader Darren Sankey, and in his new role as Caribou’s Same Day Development Manager, we are confident of strong leadership and growth.”
The acquisition is just the latest in a long line of changes that Caribou has made over the past few months. The parcel, haulage, and freight logistics company announced the acquisition of Lincolnshire County Couriers in Grantham at the end of last year, creating 30 new jobs in the area. Around the same time, the organisation confirmed rumours that it was planning to open a new depot, announcing the creation of 20 positions in Colchester.
The significant growth and expansion of the business comes at a time when logistics companies – particularly those such as Caribou which holds partnerships with major online retailers such as Amazon and eBay – have experienced record levels of demand. With non-essential stores being forced to close their doors during the COVID-19 pandemic, online shopping has grown at a rapid rate, with brands urgently seeking fast, reliable logistics solutions to ensure they’re able to continue offering satisfactory services to their customers.
