The money raised will be divided up between Bulwell Forest Garden and Lauren’s Legacy which were selected as the developer’s Charities of the Year back in July.

A total of eight employees endured the 13-mile walk, which spanned from Baslow to Grindleford in the space of 4 and a half hours.

Chloe Nash, Architectural Technician at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands and organiser of the charity walk, said: “Walking is something that my colleagues and I do in our spare time, so doing something that we enjoy while knowing that in the end it was going to help two amazing charities felt like a great accomplishment.

“Some members of the team have never walked this distance before, so it was an especially good achievement for them.”

Bulwell Forest Garden is a green space for residents of Bulwell and the wider Nottinghamshire community to come together and grow produce, play, socialise, cook, and care for the land.

Volunteers at Bulwell Forest Garden run a wide range of family activities centred around communal food growing, the creation of habitats for wildlife, and environmental play. They also make visits to local schools to teach children about growing food, environmental sustainability and nature.

Heage-based Lauren’s Legacy was formed in August 2019 in memory of Lauren Elliott, who sadly passed away at the age of 22 after a five-year battle with Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer.

The charity is run by Lauren’s parents and friends. They support teenagers and young adults undergoing cancer treatment by granting wishes such as family holidays, concert tickets, and iPads.

Mark Cotes, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “We are proud of our employees for their continued support for our wonderful Charities of the Year.

“This sponsored walk challenged several members of our office team, and it is great to be able to grant Bulwell Forest Garden and Lauren’s Legacy with another generous donation before the end of the year.”
