Pupils at Overstone Primary School in Northamptonshire recently received a donation of reflective bag tags from Barratt Homes to help them shine bright whilst on their way to and from school for Walk to School Month in October.

The five star housebuilder gave the school 160 hi-vis bag tags for its pupils to wear whilst walking, cycling or scooting to and from school, ensuring they can be easily seen on the roads as the darker nights draw in.

Walk to School Month runs for the duration of October each year and encourages pupils to celebrate the journey to school on foot.

Alison Grasby, School Business Manager at Overstone Primary School, said: “Lots of our young pupils walk the journey to and from school and their safety whilst doing this is incredibly important to us.

“That’s why we’re really grateful to Barratt Homes for its high vis bag tag donation. We were thrilled to accept the bag tags and our pupils will be using them throughout October and in the future.”

Overstone Primary School is located near the homebuilder’s Overstone Gate development on Overstone Farm, and the donation of hi-vis bag tags is another part of Barratt Homes’ outreach to the local community.

In what’s been a challenging time for schools across the country as a result of the pandemic, the leading developer is as committed as ever to providing support during Walk to School Month and beyond.

John Dillon, Managing Director at Barratt Homes South Midlands, said: “We want to ensure the pupils in the local communities remain visible now the darker nights are here, and our donation has hopefully still encouraged them to safely practice Walk to School Month.

“This is a campaign we actively support each year as we endeavour to help local school children in their efforts to commute on foot, and the bag tags have proven to be both effective and practical.

“As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, it’s even more important for us to support the local schools in and around the communities we build, so we’re thrilled to have had the chance to support Overstone Primary School during Walk to School Month.”

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ hi-vis bag tags have been particularly useful during Walk to School Month, whilst being certain to benefit the pupils in their future journeys to school throughout the winter months.
