New exhibition of work by illustrator Lindsay Tempest opens at Bradford Industrial Museum

A new exhibition of work by illustrator Lindsay Tempest has opened Bradford Industrial Museum.

The exhibition entitled ‘Unmasked’ will be on display at the Bradford council-run museum until 29 May 2023.

Lindsay is an illustrator who lives in the Yorkshire Dales, where her family has a rich heritage.

Recently diagnosed neurodivergent, drawing is a place she goes to express and explore her feelings about the world around her, including mental health.

As well as producing her own work, Lindsay teaches and researches the benefits of creativity on mental health.

As well as the exhibition, Lindsay will be running a ‘meet the artist’ creative session with hourly demos on 15 February between 10am and 2pm.

Lindsay Tempest, said: “It gives me great pleasure (and a little anxiety) to announce my forthcoming exhibition of illustrations at Bradford Industrial Museum. As a child, drawing was my safe place, and this theme has been a constant and passionate thread throughout my life. Recently diagnosed neurodivergent, drawing remains that place I go to express and explore my feelings about my experiences and the world around me, and this includes my mental health.

“It’s my hope that taboos continue to be challenged and we can have an open dialogue around the range of different ways our brains function and related characteristic behaviours.”

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executice Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting Lindsay’s artwork at this exhibition. Art is such a great way for people to express themselves and explore their feelings and has great benefits on people’s mental health.”
