MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE FRESHEST NIGHT’S SLEEP THIS NATIONAL BED MONTH
Nothing beats snuggling in to newly washed, fresh, crisp bedding, especially when the weather is dull and dreary. Getting a good night’s sleep is incredibly important for overall health and wellbeing. The benefits of sleep include stress reduction, supporting the immune system, memory improvement, enhanced mood and it keeps your heart healthy too.
According to research, over 7 in 10 people (73%) believe that they get a more comfortable night’s rest when they sleep on clean bedding and a staggering 62% change their sheets once a week or more*.
In celebration of National Bed Month this March, cleaning and laundry experts, Dr. Beckmann share its top tips on how to create a snuggle haven in the bedroom, whilst also ensuring your bed is bacteria and stain free, resulting in a more comfortable, restful night’s sleep.
Cleaning and laundry expert, Dr. Beckmann’s spokesperson Susan Fermor says:
Maintain your mattresses
“Mattresses are often a neglected part of the bedmaking routine, people often forget to clean and maintain it. Every now and then it’s important to give mattresses a deep clean, so start by hoovering over the top to remove any debris, then for any stubborn stains or everlasting marks, we’d recommend using a dedicated stain remover. Dr. Beckmann’s newly launched Upholstery Stain Remover, similar to the Carpet Stain Remover, will do just the trick, simply apply the product on the mattress and scrub away, you’ll soon see your stains disappear leaving behind a fresh, clean scent.”
Protect your pillows
“If you don’t look after your pillows and wash them regularly, bacteria, dead skin cells and dust mites thrive. We’d recommend investing in pillow protectors to keep the surface of your pillow clean and bacteria free. However, make sure to pop your pillows (check label first!) into the wash every three months on a hot wash to kill off any lurking bacteria.”
Bright white sheets
“Nothing says crisp and clean quite like a bright white bed spread, it also screams luxury living. However, white bed sheets inevitably dull over time, so to ensure those whites stay shining bright and looking like new, use Dr. Beckmann’s Glowhite – the nation’s number 1 specialist fabric whitener. When used regularly, Glowhite maintains that new whiteness, wash after wash and ensures your whites are never dull.
“However, if left neglected, Glowhite ULTRA helps revive those dull whites in just one wash ensuring bedding is brought back to life with an intensive formula that restores even the greyest of whites. Both products are easy and convenient to use as it’s all pre-measured, simply pop in the sachet and watch it work its magic.”
Hassle-free headboards
“An upholstery headboard adds a touch of glamour to the bedroom, but they can be a nightmare to clean. Alongside the mattress, headboards are usually forgotten about during the daily cleaning regime, but they can become home to bacteria and dust mites too. Always make sure to check the cleaning label before adding any products to the surface, then vacuum up any dust or lingering dirt. For any leftover stains, you can create a cleaning solution with warm water and a small amount of detergent, apply to a cloth and work it into the stain and allow to dry. However, for the best result, we’d advise using a dedicated upholstery stain remover to make cleaning the headboard completely hassle (and stain) free!”
Stubborn sheet stains
“Beds aren’t always used for sleeping, they become home to all sorts of activities, such as eating breakfast, having a cup of coffee or applying make-up, so it’s apparent that spills and stains on bedding is bound to occur. However, there is no need to panic as using a laundry stain remover can ensure that your sheets look as good as new. Launched last year, Dr. Beckmann’s Stain Remover Oxi-Power Caps target over 100 stubborn stains in a convenient pop-in-wash cap. Each cap is pre-measured, so you simply need to place the cap alongside the spoiled sheets in a regular washing machine cycle, resulting in your bedsheets coming out clean and stain-free.”
