Leading developer Barratt Homes has created a guide this Houseplant Week (10th to 16th January) to help residents’ properties blossom with a variety of budding houseplants.

The annual awareness week, led by TV presenter and Chartered Horticulturist David Domoney, is a celebration of the benefits of having houseplants in your home.

In the spirit of the week, five star developer Barratt Homes has provided a list of houseplants which will grow the best in each room of your house. For those looking at purchasing a property at one of its developments in Leicestershire, the guide is sure to make house hunters’ homes thrive.

Barratt Homes suggests the Peace Lily, as it’s a fantastic option for homeowners which gives back to their lounge area. Whilst it makes a statement, it’s easy to grow and also raises humidity levels by 5% which is beneficial for residents’ health, as it reduces the likelihood of developing a cold from dry indoor air.

The plant can decorate a dreary coffee table or spruce up a blank corner to give the area more of a homely feel and is the perfect lounge accessory.

Use plants to cook in the kitchen

For those who love to make delicious meals and enjoy feeding the family, houseplants can be a great help in the kitchen whilst also adding a subtle touch of style.
