Leading plant-based cheeze scoops 12th award
One of the UK’s most popular plant-based producer has a lot to celebrate after adding two more awards to its foodie trophy cabinet.
The block version Applewood® Vegan, the UK’s second best-selling plant-based cheese, has won the Silver Award in the Vegan Food and Living Awards in the Best Cheese Brand category, while sister brand Ilchester® Vegan Melting Mature Slices, which is made by Norseland the UK’s number one blended cheese supplier, which also produces Applewood Vegan, has been given the Editor’s Award.
The Silver Award is the 12th accolade* for the multi-award-winning Applewood Vegan and the third award for Ilchester Vegan Melting Mature. Vegan Food and Living Editor Holly Johnson described the Slices as “being so handy to have in the fridge for sandwiches and toasties. They taste lovely and creamy.”
Talking about the awards success Ffion Davies said: “Since its launch in October 2019, Applewood Vegan has gone from strength to strength, proving so popular with vegans – and flexitarians – alike that we launched Grated and Slices formats quickly after the Block and last month, we rolled out our first snacking plant-based cheeze, the Applewood Vegan Minis.
“We saw a gap in the market for a plant-based mature cheddar that tasted as close to dairy cheddar as possible, and our Ilchester Vegan Melting Mature Slices have really filled that gap.
“The Vegan Food and Living Awards are highly thought of in the plant-based world and we are truly honoured to have received these latest awards.”
Applewood Vegan Block is available to buy in Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, Ocado and Waitrose, while Ilchester Vegan Melting Mature Slices can be found in Sainsbury’s.
* Applewood Vegan’s awards include: including the Gold award at the FreeFrom Food Awards 2020; Best Vegan Cheese in the 2019 Vegan Food UK Awards; and Best Vegan Cheese For Melting in the Vegan Cheese Co. 2019 Awards; and the Silver Award in the Dairy Free Cheese Alternative category at the International Cheese Awards 2022.
