Not had your first or second jab yet?

Do your bit to stop the spread and protect yourself and those around you from being seriously ill: take that important step forward and join the millions that have, at our Big Walk-in Weekend at various locations across the Black Country, from Friday, 25 June, to Monday, 28 June.

Vaccines are the best way to protect you and your loved ones from Covid-19, and 4.98 million people in the West Midlands have now been fully vaccinated with their second dose.

Public Health England state that two vaccine doses have been shown to be highly effective in reducing hospitalisation from the Delta variant. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is up to 96% effective and the Oxford-Astra Zeneca vaccine is 92% effective. That’s comparable with vaccine effectiveness against hospitalisation from the Alpha variant!

Those over 40 can have their second vaccination after eight weeks; everyone else can have theirs after 12 weeks.

Dr Lisa McNally, Sandwell’s Director of Public Health, said: “The people of Sandwell have been fantastic in their support and take-up of the vaccines in order to stop the surge in infections from Covid-19. This is a golden opportunity for those who have yet to have their first or second doses to play their part and help protect everyone'”
