Jamie Webster’s ‘Sing Your Tears’ OUT NOW ahead of third album!
Indie singer-songwriter success-story, Jamie Webster releases his latest, deeply-felt, proudly-sung anthemic single, Sing Your Tears to praise the courage it takes for anyone to talk and share their pain when life feels tough. A new festival field-filler swelled with compassion and real-world experience, the song’s sensitivities are matched by smile-wide, upbeat melodies to celebrate the essential, simple joys of throwing arms around each other and singing the roof loose.
Looking deeper into 2024 and the momentous peaks of not only a 40,000-capacity homecoming show at Liverpool’s Sefton Park this summer, but the imminent release of his third studio album, 10 For The People, released on Fri 2 February 2024 on Modern Sky, observers could forgive Webster for just concentrating on what’s happening on his own doorstep. Yet, the impassioned singer-songwriter’s motivations clearly remain telling stories of resilience, resistance and compassion, documenting the lives of people he meets along the way.
Growing as a musician in full public view, Sing Your Tears, recorded with renowned producer, Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Kylie Minogue), matches the consistency in Webster’s motivations with bolder and braver adventures in sound and songcraft.
Webster says: “’Sing Your Tears’ is a song about raising awareness to speak up if you’re feeling down. In this song the word ‘sing’ is sometimes used as a metaphor for talking and speaking out. But at the same time, sometimes singing itself just makes you feel better and lifts your mood. The “da da da da’s” are a symbol of everyone coming together to sing their tears away”
Having enjoyed significant streaming success as he emerged, fresh from performing in pubs and clubs, in 2019, Webster’s two previous studio albums have found ever-bigger audiences who have positioned him as their choice of modern-day indie-folk hero. Setting out with his debut, We Get By, released in the midst of national lockdowns in 2020, the album not only landed at No.1 on the first ever, weekly UK Official Folk Albums Chart, but No.6 on the Official Albums Chart. With his fans support behind him, the follow up, early 2022’s Moments, advanced further and settled into the Top Five in the week of release.
Crafting songs with meticulous care at both residential studios, including the legendary Rockfield Studios in south Wales, and now his own facility in Liverpool, the measured additions of brass, strings, beats and lush, layered vocals across many of the 11 tracks heard on 10 For The People, provide proof of an increasingly confident artist. Admitting that festival main stages are front of mind when he writes, Webster’s also gives in to key influences, such as key players in the Laurel Canyon scene like Crosby Stills & Nash, alongside undisputed songwriting giants like Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon.
Setting out on this album campaign with the rousing summer single, Voice Of The Voiceless, following up with his Billy Bragg-collaborative ode to the door-to-door-salesman, Fickle Fran, Webster quickly set the highest of expectations for the album. Always watching world events, near and far, Webster’s latest release was in December, revealing 10 For The People’s closing track, and more traditional, acoustically-driven protest song, How Do You Sleep At Night? All proceeds from that song are being donated to the British Red Cross.
