Precision agriculture company I-Feeder Technologies is marking one year since relocating its headquarters from South Africa to London. The strategic move signified a post Brexit confidence in the strength and capability of UK Agritech as an incubator and supporter of associated technologies, and has proven to be a great success for I-Feeder Technologies.

Founded in South Africa 40 years ago, I-Feeder Technologies has reshaped the fertigation industry, transforming from just a hardware company to now offer automated fertigation, chemigation, precision software and associated technologies. Unlike other offerings in the market, I-Feeder supports the product with office locations based around the world, making them more than a dealer network. The company is an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and have full control in quality assurance and flexibility in their product offering. I-Feeder Technologies also provides a bespoke white-labelling offering to various irrigation component manufacturers, allowing them to integrate not only into the hardware of these partners, but also the software.

When the company relocated to the UK in 2020, it became part of YB AgTech – a collection of precision agriculture and tech companies sitting within private equity firm Yellow Brick Capital’s portfolio. I-Feeder’s link up with YB AgTech has afforded the hardware greater capabilities, working alongside other technologies and software including i-Plant Nutrition fertilisation software (formerly Smart Fertilizer).

The move to the UK marked a new era for I-Feeder Technologies. The company has since expanded its offering with offices in Nebraska, U.S.A. and Brazil. It has also assigned exclusivity to a global player to support the products in Australia, as well as signing dealerships in New Zealand, Uganda, Zambia and Tanzania.

As I-Feeder Technologies celebrates the one-year anniversary of its relocation to the UK, the company has already set its sights on its next stages of strategic expansions. With the precision farming market valued at £5.1 billion in 2020 is projected to reach £9.32 billion by 2025 at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 12.7% between 2020 and 2025, now is the perfect time for growth and investment.

I-Feeder’s next area of focus is Eastern Europe which is already a critical role player in the agricultural field. Alongside this, the company will be expanding their white label offering to various irrigation component manufacturers.

Johan van Zyl, CEO at I-Feeder Technologies commented: “The relocation of I-Feeder Technologies to the UK one year ago signified an exciting change for the business. Using the UK as our headquarters has provided us with the scope to upscale our offering through growth and investment. We are now looking forward to making the UK a hub of agricultural development through technology and research whilst we expand the I-Feeder Technologies offering globally.”

“Our focus now is the manufacturing of our technologies in the UK and scaling up the capability to increase production in our other sites. The capability to roll-out hardware local to the market, especially in this uncertain and volatile time in terms of logistic costs and time frames, makes it an obvious decision.”
