Families set to travel and reconnect this Christmas with Vrbo bringing the tree so they don’t have to
With less than four weeks to go until Christmas, Brits are busy preparing for the festive season. According to Vrbo®, a global expert in family holiday rentals, 17% of families in the UK are planning to travel over the Christmas period*, with nearly a quarter of searches being for larger groups between 7-10 people, highlighting the desire to take a trip with the whole family and to reconnect with loved ones under one roof**.
And where are they looking to go? The top destinations which have the highest interest for Christmas 2021 include Cornwall, Devon and Cumbria (full list of top 10 domestic destinations below for reference).
Whether planning to visit friends or family elsewhere in the UK to make up for lost time over the past year, Vrbo®, a global expert in family holiday rentals, wants to ensure that this Christmas is one to remember. To make the holiday extra special, Vrbo has launched its very own Christmas Tree Service.
This service will provide holidaymakers booking a stay in the UK on the Vrbo platform during the Christmas period, with a Christmas tree at their chosen property, at no extra cost, to make their Vrbo holiday rental feel festive and just like being at home! To request the service, travellers simply have to contact the Vrbo team via email ([email protected]).
The humble Christmas tree has a very important place in Brits’ hearts. Research from Vrbo revealed a third (33%) claimed that decorating the Christmas tree is when they start getting into the Christmas spirit, whilst 4 in 10 (45%) stated that decorating the tree is what they like most about Christmas! And for half of Brits (50%), the Christmas tree is considered the favourite family tradition during the holidays – a family Christmas celebration clearly isn’t complete without the much-loved Christmas tree!***

Karen Mullins from Vrbo says, “Christmas is the most magical time of year to get together with family and friends and enjoy the festive period. After a difficult year and many of us not being able to get together with family last Christmas, we don’t want anything to ruin Christmas this year and for families staying away from home, we want to make sure they can still enjoy a traditional Christmas, wherever they are! What better gift than a beautiful Christmas tree for the family to decorate and admire to boost Christmas spirit!
