ECOFLIX UNVEILED: THE FIRST NOT-FOR-PROFIT STREAMING PLATFORM DEDICATED TO SAVING ANIMALS AND NATURE.
Ecoflix Inc. (www.ecoflix.com), wholly-owned by The Ecoflix Foundation, is unveiled today, and launches globally on Tuesday 9th November 2021, during COP26.
The brainchild of American philanthropist and animal advocate, David Casselman, Ecoflix was founded to support and empower positive change to protect the natural world.
Original programming focusing on the animals and iconic species with whom we share the planet, has been in production since early 2021. All content is the pursuit of benign, nature-based solutions and measures to mitigate climate change. The Ecoflix slate has been developed and produced by a multi-BAFTA and Emmy award-winning team, headed up by Fresh Start Media Creative Director, Marshall Corwin (SERIOUS ADVENTURE, TOMORROW’S WORLD, PANORAMA).
The international programming includes: documentary FREE BILLY; weekly news review show THE PULSE, presented by Kids Against Plastic co-founder Ella Meek (FYI) and Jahawi Bertolli (NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC); a flagship show called ECO-TRAILBLAZERS; a wildlife series for the next generation ON SAFARI WITH NALA; as well as an inspirational original series entitled CHANGEMAKERS WITH NIALL McCANN (A PERFECT PLANET, LOST IN THE AMAZON).
Ecoflix launches with the support of numerous global non-profits. Founding NGO partners include Born Free, The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), The United Nations’ Trillion Tree Campaign, Elephant Nature Park and National Park Rescue. With a focus on empowering behavioural change, Ecoflix seeks to advance three of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals – LIFE ON LAND, LIFE BELOW WATER, and CLIMATE ACTION.
The carefully-curated slate of programs which includes a diverse range of acquired international films, has been developed to encourage widespread behavioral change. It offers inspiration to viewers, providing them with fresh ideas for how to protect animals, nature and the planet, and make a lasting difference by: volunteering their time; donating to causes; lobbying influential organizations, and helping shape a more animals and wildlife-friendly world. No matter how small the commitment, any positive behavioral shift will play a significant part in achieving the overall goal of saving life on earth.
David Casselman, Ecoflix Founder and CEO, said: “My vision for Ecoflix is to touch the hearts and minds of people who care about the planet, empowering them to become a key part of a necessary worldwide shift in attitudes and actions. We seek to provide uplifting inspiring programming which will excite people and help them realize they can be the change they want to see.”
Beyond providing a feast of empowering programming, the streaming service is built upon a ‘Circle of Giving’. A component of the Circle provides for the revenue from one month of all annual memberships and equivalent amount from monthly memberships to be donated to affiliated NGOs chosen by all Ecoflix members. Ecoflix members are referred to as ‘Changemakers’.
In addition, Ecoflix memberships are tax deductible in the US. Ecoflix profits will then be used to support animal and planetary causes around the world. Ecoflix is doing everything it can to empower and inspire behavioral change. Each original production will include inspiration and suggestions as to how every person can engage, tackle the problems, and be part of the solution.
Ecoflix has already made strides with its philanthropic work, having financially supported The Whale Sanctuary Project in Russia, Malaysia Gibbon Rescue, The Wolf Connection in Los Angeles, and the rescue of Kaavan the elephant from captivity in a Pakistan Zoo and his relocation to The Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary. The team is also campaigning to secure the release of Billy the elephant from the Los Angeles Zoo, with the launch of Free Billy, the first original documentary to be released worldwide on the Ecoflix platform.
